The certification is valid for 5 years and a candidate can either rewrite the exam for certification or submit a list of continuous learning activities in the specialist area. The continuous learning activities must be 100 hours in a five year period. CNA does not have to pre-approve the continuous learning activities but there are guidelines to follow.
